All of our Velvet Velour Curtains meet the requirements of BS5867: Part 2: B which is the British Standard for flame retardant fabrics used for the manufacture of curtains or drapes. Both Velvet Velour and Heavy Velvet Velour fabrics are chemically treated with a water based solution and as a consequence, are NDFR (Non Durably Flame Retardant) fabrics that, if wetted, must be retreated.

Headings and Sewings
Curtain Rufflette Tape and Hooks

Rufflette Tape and Hooks Generally used with most small to medium sized curtains, particularly in domestic or commercial situations, but also with shorter drops where the curtain heading is clearly visible. Curtains are provided with 75mm wide Rufflette tape sewn in position and pre-fitted with wire hooks at nominally 100mm centres along the centre of the tape.

Curtain Golf Bag Hooks

Golf Bag Hooks This arrangement comprises metal hooks sewn onto a cotton or polypropylene tape. It makes an ideal arrangement for most medium to heavy curtains with the hooks fitted at nominally 300mm centres. This is one of the strongest methods of attaching curtains to certain types of track and has the benefit that the hooks remain hidden behind the curtain.

Curtain Tab Hooks

Tab Hooks These are an excellent alternative to the above, especially where the curtain needs to hang below the eye of the runner on the track. A strong method with metal hooks sewn onto cotton or polypropylene tape. Best suited to medium and heavy weight curtains with hooks at nominally 300mm centres.

Curtain Tape Ties

Tape Ties Cotton tape ties 25mm wide sewn onto a cotton or polypropylene tape, with the curtain centrally marked with a contrasting colour tape. This is a convenient method for readily attaching static curtains to a fixed rail or curtain rod.

Curtain Webbing and Eyelets

Webbing and Eyelets Cotton or polypropylene tape fitted with 20mm nickel eyelets on nominally 300mm centres. These can be supplied with tape ties and used to fix as static curtains to a fixed rail or curtain rod. They are also a convenient method for securing flat curtains when used as banners.

Bottoms The vast majority of our curtains feature a chain weighted base. This allows the curtain to hang correctly and to move smoothly during opening and closing. On flat drapes or banners a pocket would be sewn into the base, to accept a pipe or batten, in order to create a flat straight edge.

Curtain Sides

Sides These are continuously hemmed and with larger curtain systems can be fitted with Velcro tape, to ease management during both hanging and use, by providing a ready method of joining or separating adjacent curtain drops.

Curtain Linings

Linings Whist many of our curtains are supplied unlined, we can offer various lining fabrics including blackout and sateen, as well as a lining which features a UV backing, making it particularly suited to window applications.

Curtain Fullness

Fullness We can manufacture curtains to varying degrees of fullness but tend to favour 50% as standard with the curtain measuring one and a half times the width of the track. Curtains can be sewn flat for use as banners or produced with the fullness sewn into the heading.
